Gingerbread House Contest – 2020
The theme of the Hagley Museum’s annual competition this year 2020 is “Hometown Heroes”.
The Hagley Museum has invited entrants to build their own gingerbread house and celebrate essential frontline staff, or someone they feel has been a hero in their time of need.
With this in mind, our association decided to contribute in our own way to this great idea!
Our starting point was an image taken at Bois-des-Fossés in 1929 of the main building (© Archives digitales HAGLEY), which still existed at the time, and the formal garden, which Pierre-Samuel Dupont de Nemours also knew:

Then we made a scale model of our kitchen utensils, to obtain a cutting pattern for the gingerbread plates to be made and assembled:

Finally, the 5 members of the executive committee, accompanied by other members of the association, worked over the weekend of November 21 and 22, 2020 to finalize this gingerbread creation.
After a few hours’ work, here’s the result:

As President of the association, I’d like to thank Françoise, Jean-Bernard, Anne-Claire, Aude-Marie and all the other active members for their commitment to this project !
